I know that many of you neglect face cleansing, don’t you? And I’m more than sure that you didn’t have to wait long to observe the adverse effects of your negligence. If you don’t take off makeup and grime, you will have to welcome acne and irritations. Sometimes you may end up with coming down with some serious and pretty nasty skin diseases. In order to prevent all the negative aspects of wearing makeup, I’ll give you today my tips on effective face cleansing.
Why making face skin clean is so important?
Throughout a day, various kinds of impurities such as pollen, through dust and ending with smog and other contaminants that flow in the air build up on our faces. When combined with sweat, color cosmetics, sebum and dead skin cells, they all create a hazardous mixture for the skin. If you don’t remove it from the face at the end of a day, you inevitably increase the risk of developing acne, irritations, allergy, rash and other bad things that you would definitely like to steer clear of.
It doesn’t mean though that using a bar of soap and fresh water will do. If you want to remove makeup fully, you must pick the product that suits your skin type and the cosmetics that about to be taken off. You can choose among regular makeup removers and the cosmetics that take off waterproof makeup. It’s also crucial to cleanse the skin thoroughly morning and evening. Yes, you’ve read this correctly – morning face cleansing also matters. At night, sweat, dust mites and dead skin cells gather on the face. As a consequence, applying makeup in the morning may get pretty challenging, or even impossible. Also, if you apply face cream in the morning, it may not penetrate skin, provided that you haven’t make the skin clean.
(In)correct skin cleansing
Below I’ll enumerate you the most common sins that girls commit every day. The deadly ones include:
- using only water to wash the face in the morning, or skipping this procedure completely.
- trying to cleanse the face without water or not rinsing the makeup removers.
- washing face with hot water.
- too vigorous and too frequent skin exfoliation.
- drying the face with a rough towel.
- applying skin care products to dry skin.
- using micellar lotion or makeup removing wipes instead of performing normal makeup removal.
How to cleanse face skin the right way?
I’d divide face cleansing into two stages: makeup removal and skin washing. The first stage depends on removing everything that remains on our face: cream, SPF and color cosmetics. Of course, you should make use of the products destined for this task (e.g. micellar lotion, milks, oils and bi-phase lotions). First, I use a thick cosmetic and then follow with a runny one. Finally, I use water to get rid of the residues.
The second stage, that is face cleansing, depends on using gels, gentle soaps, clays and other products destined for face cleansing. I avoid cosmetics containing harsh detergents, colorants and fragrances. Finally, I use a toner or a herbal water.
