Make-up. On one hand, it provides women with beauty, but on the other hand, it triggers many problems, even the ones connected with the hold of the cosmetics. Indeed, we would like the effect obtained due to a few-minute brush manoeuvring to hold long. Unfortunately, the reality disappoints us and sooner or later we end up with mascara flakes underneath our eyes.
Today, we’re going to explore the problem more deeply.
I’ll tell you all my secrets that help me prevent mascara smudges.
What makes a mascara flake off and leave smudges?
There are many factors responsible for this situation and it’s worth knowing how to eliminate them. Combating what lowers lifespan of a mascara can improve the quality of our make-up.
In contrary to what many women tend to say, the lifespan of a mascara doesn’t depend on the type of complexion you have. No matter if your skin is dry, oily or combination – a mascara can leave smudges the same way. Therefore, balancing the process of producing sebum won’t do much.
However, sweat does have an influence, or rather high temperatures that encourage its production. Eyeshadows and mascaras don’t preserve long on sweated skin and eyelashes. Equally negative impact on the make-up hold has the quality of a mascara – it’s as simple as that. A cheaper mascara will accumulate in the corners of the eyes, especially if we apply it in galore, which in fact is yet another factor reducing lifespan of make-up. Undoubtedly, it’s worth bearing this in mind 🙂
What can we do to prevent our mascara from smudging?
The risk of smudges is lowered when:
- we apply a waterproof mascara;
- we use a mascara primer;
- we reach for the high quality products.
However, sometimes it happens that we’ve just run out of only waterproof mascara and we don’t have any other similar product near us. We have to coat our lashes with this ‘worse’ mascara that we have at our disposal. Fortunately, it’s possible to obtain more durable make-up. Here is my secret method for such emergencies.
Home way to extend a mascara’s hold
- Coat eyelashes with a regular mascara just as you are used to do it.
- Wait until it dries out.
- Apply one coat of a colourless eyebrow gel to your eyelashes.
That’s it! Your mascara will be more durable without flaking off and smudging your eye skin area.
