Let’s bath our brushes and combs! How to do it and which cosmetics to use?

comb

Howdy Girls,

Your combs and brushes would use a bath from time to time, definitely. They also deserve a little bit of luxury and care, don’t they? OK, but to be serious, hair styling items have to be regularly washed and cleansed. Believe me, there is no other as easy activity as this one. Check out how to do this.

What should we clean our combs and brushes for?

You use them in the morning and in the evening, and then you put them back on the shelf. They collect dust and many other impurities that are present in the air. Broken hair, dandruff and even sebum gather on their surfaces and teeth. Your brushes and combs don’t lead an easy life. And now, think for a while what would happen if you keep using such dirty items to comb your hair? Frightening… All the weird stuff that clings to the brush will be transported to your head. Irritation and diseases guaranteed!

How to cleanse combs and brushes?

  • Firstly, take a good look at your brush. Despite you being unable to notice the bacteria and germs, you will see how many hairs you have lost the last week. Probably, you will also spot stains made of dirt that must be precisely removed. Sometimes, the residues of hair styling cosmetics also gather in the recess of the comb. They have to be washed down as well.
  • Secondly, try to comb out all the hair and other impurities from between the item’s teeth. To do it, use a comb of widely-arranged teeth. After that, prepare a bath. Take a bowl, fill it with warm water and add a shampoo or an antistatic product. Put there your combs and brushes but let the handles remain above the water level. If you use wooden hair accessories or the ones made od natural materials then remember to do not keep them underwater longer than 5 minutes. Otherwise, they can change the shape or simply become destroyed. Use a special cleaning cloth (available in e-shops) to get rid of all the remaining impurities. Finally, rinse the lather by putting the combs and brushes under the stream of running water. Make sure that you rinsed the shampoo and other cleansing preparations thoroughly.
  • Thirdly, dry your combs and brushes. Moist favour bacteria multiplication and destroying the material the items are made of. Therefore, put all the hair styling tools in a dry place or remove the water using a blow-dryer by setting cool air stream. Now, you can brush, comb and style your hair freely.
